Every December homeowners call us wanting a guarantee of their solar system being installed by the end of the year, in order to take advantage of the 30% Federal solar tax credit. Many are shocked to hear that we are unable to guarantee we can complete the install in that time frame.
We are not the contractor who is going to tell you what you want to hear, but rather what you need to hear. There are many variables that effect the install time frame.
In order to qualify for the 30% Federal solar tax credit your system must be installed, pass inspection, and be given PTO (Permission To Operate) from your Utility company before December 31, 2016. This entire process can take 1-3 months on a roof mounted solar system, and 3-4 months on a ground mounted solar system. The closer we get to the end of the year, there are several factors out of our control that will interfere with our schedule, amongst them Utility schedule changes, County or City process delays, weather delays, etc. As we approach the end of the year, all of the parties involved become busier and delays will happen. We will do everything in our power to get your solar system installed, inspected and turned on by the deadline, but we need you to make the first step to get your project on our schedule as soon as possible.
