San Diego Community Power’s Battery Rebate Program

Home 9 San Diego Community Power’s Battery Rebate Program

San Diego Community Power’s new Solar Battery Savings Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to support single-family homeowners in their service area who are eager to invest in clean energy solutions. By participating in this program, homeowners are encouraged to install solar and battery storage systems, or to enhance their existing solar setups with new battery storage.

SDCP’s Solar Battery Savings Program provides customers with two attractive options to maximize their savings. By participating, customers can receive up to $10,000 in upfront rebates for battery installations, with the rebate amount varying based on the size of their system. This program is designed to help offset the initial costs of solar battery systems, making it easier for customers to invest in sustainable energy solutions and reduce their long-term energy expenses.

What is the San Diego Community Power

San Diego Community Power (SDCP) is a not-for-profit public energy agency dedicated to providing sustainable and affordable energy services. Serving residents and businesses throughout San Diego and its surrounding communities, SDCP aims to enhance local energy choices while supporting environmental and economic goals.

To determine if you are already a customer of SDCP, simply check your energy bill. If SDCP is listed as your energy provider, you are part of their community or not.

Sounds great! Am I eligible?

To qualify for this program, SDCP customers must adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Active SDCP Residential Customer: You must be an active residential customer of San Diego Community Power (SDCP). If you have previously opted out of SDCP, you will need to return to SDCP in order to be eligible for the program.
  2. Permitting and Interconnection: The system equipment must be properly interconnected and permitted by the appropriate local permitting jurisdiction. This ensures that all installations meet local regulations and safety standards.
  3. Battery Charging Requirements: The battery associated with your system must be fully charged exclusively using on-site solar energy. Charging the battery from the grid is not allowed under this program.
  4. Exclusivity of Participation: Your battery system cannot be involved in or enrolled in any other active demand response programs. This includes programs such as the Emergency Load Relief Program (ELRP) or Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS). The program aims to avoid conflicts and ensure that participation is focused and manageable.
  5. Installation Timing: Battery systems must be installed after you have submitted your SDCP application. This timing requirement ensures that only new installations, which meet the program’s guidelines, are considered.
  6. Interconnection Application: The interconnection application for your system must be dated after the contractor has been approved for the program. Please note that the ability to verify this timing will only be possible once the Permission to Operate (PTO) letter is received. This helps confirm that the system’s setup and contractor approval are aligned with program requirements.
